1. Is Smart-BUS an Open Protocol System Like KNX?

Yes, We can call the SMART-BUS an Open Protocol = Almost Identical to the KNX (so called Open Protocol)

However There are 3 Levels of Open Protocol Smart-BUS Integration with third party as following:

1) protocols for Software Developers (Fully Open)

2) Chipsets and Firmware integration protocols for Appliances and Hardware manufacturers (Require Agreement)

3) Core Technology Embedding for Chipset manufacturers (Require Agreement)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Likewise, EIB and KNX are European Protocols call them selves OPEN, while they are fully closed to certain selected companies that pay for such keys while the exclusives like ABB & Siemens hold the Core technology secrets and Master Keys. This EIB/KNX BUS is made to create a European style of Exclusivity to European manufacturers mainly. Almost Similar to the Homenet Protocol that is mainly used in Korea or OEM products produced in Korea that is also closed for Korean made products.

Today, We can only call the TCP/IP a Real Open Protocol system

2. What is BUS System?.

A BUS is a physical electrical interface where many devices share the same electric connection. This allows signals to be transferred between devices (allowing information or power to be shared). A bus often takes the form of an array of wires that terminate at a connector which allows a device to be plugged into the bus. A bus is a subsystem that transfers data between components inside a computer or between computers. Unlike a point-to-point connection , a bus can logically connect several peripherals over the same set of wires. Each bus defines its set of connectors to physically plug devices, cards or cables together.

Wiring a BUS system is Usually Done as a Daisy Chain, and it can Be Looped or non Looped.

Some BUS Operated Systems use only one Pair to transfer Data and Power Up the BUS communication Devices.

Others use 2Pair one for Data, and the Other is for Power of Bus communication Devices.

Distance of BUS Looping wire Vary according to Manufacturers and BUS current and voltaage drop Tolerance, accordingly distances vary from 200 up to 1.6 KM.

3. What Make SMART-BUS Different?

There are Many Reasons why Smart-BUS is Defferent than many Other BUS enabled Systems:

First Reason:

The smart-BUS (S-BUS) is a unique BUS system that uses one wire as daisy chain to connect up to 65000 devices under one network. this BUS can be expanded using Network Bridges up to 254 bridged Networks. Reaching up to 16 Million Devices on BUS network, each device can have many sub nodes, ports or channels starting from 2 and up to 16 Addressable channels.

Accordingly the Smart-BUS can Handle an average of 66 Million ports or addressable channels.

Second Reason:

The smart-BUS (S-BUS) is a fully integrated Solution System that save time, Materials, and Installation Efforts. it can directly provide plug and play solutions for energy saving, automation, hvac control, lighting and dimming, security and safety, pumps and irrigation control, access control, power meters, SMS gateway, web serve, cctv surveillance control, audio video switching and control, media streaming, multi room Audio distribution, stage lighting control, show control, touchscreens, switches and lcd panels, and many more...

Third Reason:

The smart-BUS (S-BUS) scanning and communication speed is the fastest among all other BUS systems, this feature alone give great advantage in Monitoring and command 2-Way, as well as in programing and configuring the system

Fourth Reason:

The smart-BUS (S-BUS) is the Only BUS that has distributed intelligence Topology, meaning Each Device retain a logic inside it that help it to operate for energy saving and main lifestyle functions regardless of its connectivity to the main centarl control Server Modules. and when connected, then they abide by the incoming system commands.

Fifth Reason:

The smart-BUS (S-BUS) is almost the Only system that is Designed putting the Installer's Problems ahead and solving them one by one. Accordingly; it is fully protected for Over load, Over heat, Short Circuit, Reverse polarity, Current fluctuations, Hertz and Voltage, Current Drop and many more.

Many Other Reasons:

Also Available in case the above ones were not enough to make the system uncomparible to other systems commonly used in todays markets.

In General:

A major advantage of any BUS Enabled control system over conventional system is the ability to control any device from any interface. For example, a master touch panel might allow the user the ability to control all lights in a building, not just a single room. In fact, any light might be controlled from any location. In addition, lighting control systems provide the ability to automatically power a device based on programming events such as: Chronological time (time of day), Astronomical time (sunrise/sunset), Room occupancy, Events, Alarm conditions, Program logic (any combination of events).

4. Give an example of Load Schedule Calculation for A Formal Living Room?

--- Usually a formal Living Room is a place that have the following Lighting channels mainly:

Lighting Channels Fixtures:

Channel A) Halogen Spot Lights (each is 50Wats), if we have 12 Spot lights =600Watts

Channel B) Chandler with 50 Light Bulbs (each is 20 Watts) = 1000 Watts

Channel C) Flourecent Reflected Hidden Cove Lights= 10 , (Each is 18 Watts) = 180 Watts

Channel D) 2 Wall Bracket Lights (lanterns), each is (40 Watts) = 80 Watts

Channel E) 3 Table Lights Each is (100 Watts) = 300 Watts

---------------------------------------------------------

Assuming that the Country this Formal Living Room is installed in has a Voltage of 220VAC

Accordingly the Load calculation per Circuit shall be as following:

Channel A) Halogen Spot Lights Load Rating of Controller = 600Watts/220VAC = 2.7 Amps (( Use 3 Amp Dimmer ))

Channel B) Chandler Load Rating of Controller = 1000 Watts/220VAC = 4.5 Amps (( Use 3 Amp Dimmer ))

Channel C) Florescent Load Rating of Controller = 180 Watts/220V = 0.8 Amps (( Use 10 Amp Relay ))

Channel D) Wall Bracket LightsLoad Rating of Controller = 80 Watts/220VAC= 0.4 Amps (( Use 2 Amp Dimmer))

Channel E) Table Lights Load Rating of Controller = 300 Watts/220VAC= 1.4 Amps (( Use 2 Amp Dimmer ))

---------------------------------------------------------------

Note: For Channel C) Florescent if need to Dim it, then Use 0-10V or Dali Dimable Ballast and Controller instead.

5. What Wire is used for Connecting SMART-BUS Devices like Panels and Switches?

he SMART-BUS System Uses a very simple type of Wiring in Daisy Chain Topology:

Cat5e Standard Twist Pair Cable that is used in any Data LAN Network

This Mean Small Cut Peices of wire can be Used

Note: Please do not Throw away any Extra LAN cables that you think it is not useful any more, please note that SMART-BUS uses those cuts and help Environment by decreasing wastage.

Thank you,

6. Explain if the Electrical Circuit Wiring of Conventional System is Similar to the Electrical Wiring of BUS system?

--- The SMART-BUS Uses 2 Electrical wiring methods due to its flexibility in voltage, size, and varietyof its controllers.

First Method of Electrical Connection for Homes or Buildings with Suspended Gypsum Ceilings

In this case: the standard wiring of conventional home lghting can be achieved where in the loads will be connected to the Smart-BUS controller in the Suspended Ceiling above the switch, and a Data cable will connect that controller to the Digital Switch panel or DLP.

Second Method of Electrical Connection taht si valis for all structures types

In this case: All loads wires shall be pulled to the Electrical DB of Each floor, assuming that all circuits will be switched on/off centrally from MCB breakers only. These loads will be connected to the Smart-BUS controller in the Electrical DP, then a Data cable shall be pulled to connect this controller to the Digital Switch panel or DLP in the room.

7. What is Daisy Chain Wiring?

A daisy chain is a wiring scheme in which, for example, device A is wired to device B, device B is wired to device C, device C is wired to device D, et cetera.[1] Connections do not form webs (in the preceding example, device C cannot be directly connected to device A), nor do they loop back from the last device to the first.

10. How do you usually integrate Systems to each other?

Integration involves combining instruments so that they reinforce one another and create synergy in meeting objectives. In the stand alone non-integrated systems, every device or sensor acts on its own for a specific task only. The Audio system is for music, the television is for entertainment, the motion sensors are for security, having an integrated system adds value and make devices for use of multiple benefits. For example, the motion detectors is now used for triggering lighting at night when you enter the room and opens the AC thus makes it not just for burglar alarm. The Sprinkler system is not only for irrigation now , but also to spray and deter intruders the moment step into your property. Speakers are not only for background music but also for public announcements.

There are Several Methods Of Integration (Speaking the Language of Other System):

1- RS-232 / RS 485 (ASCI / HEXSA)

2- TCP/IP and UDP

3- NO/NC Connection

4- BACnet / Lon-Works / Mnet / MOD-BUS (Interface Bridge)

5- DMX / DMX512 Interface

6- KNX/EIB Interface

7- IR infra Red Codes

8- Digital and Analogue I/O (0-10V, 0-15V, 0-5V, 4-20mA)

9- DALI / DS

10- ART net / HDL net / Hnet

11- W-BUS interface / Z-wave / Zigbee interface

and So on...

14. Can We Dimm Flourecent Tubes?

Yes, We can Simply Dim any Florescent Tubes that uses Dim-able Ballast

there are 4 types of Dimable balalsts

Type A) is DALI

Type B) is 0-10V

Type C) is DSI

Some New technology Energy saving Bulbs are also Dimmable.

We have Made our technology very stable, to make sure that there is a stable supply of current that flows smoothly and evenly in stable form to avoid any flickering in those energy saving dimable bulbs.. (Unlike other manufacturers)

As A General Information to cover Florescent lighting and dimming in simple way, we would like to talk about it as following:

A dimmer switch can provide a more mellow feel to a room than the bright glare ... At the same time, compact fluorescent lights are dimmable ... Achieving mellow lighting while cutting electricity costs. Ballast is a device used with an electric-discharge lamp to obtain the necessary circuit conditions (voltage, current and waveform) for starting and operating: all fluorescent and high intensity discharge (HID) light sources require a ballast for proper operation.

Instant start

An instant start ballast starts lamps without heating the cathodes at all by using a high voltage (around 600 V). It is the most energy efficient type, but gives the least number of starts from a lamp as emissive oxides are blasted from the cold cathode surfaces each time the lamp is started. This is the best type for installations where lamps are not turned on and off very often.

Rapid start

A rapid start ballast applies voltage and heats the cathodes simultaneously. Provides superior lamp life and more cycle life, but uses slightly more energy as the cathodes in each end of the lamp continue to consume heating power as the lamp operates. A dimming circuit can be used with a dimming ballast, which maintains the heating current while allowing lamp current to be controlled.

Programmed start

A programmed-start ballast is a more advanced version of rapid start. This ballast applies power to the filaments first, then after a short delay to allow the cathodes to preheat, applies voltage to the lamps to strike an arc. This ballast gives the best life and most starts from lamps, and so is preferred for applications with very frequent power cycling such as vision examination rooms and restrooms with a motion detector switch.

20. What is Bio Switch?

BioSwitch is a SMARTHOME Concept of operating your home/Office systems according to different persons fingers.

Each individual carry his own moods, 10 moods or actions = his 10 fingers

These actions, commands or macros will be driven once the person swipe his finger desired at different rooms or areas.

Some of the functions/macros or commands are:

lighting, HVAC Temp, Music and Volume, Security, Moods ++

Your fingers are your Moods... that is the Bio Switch.

Bio-switch integration into BUS provides biometry through RS232 or RS485 interface for third party controllers in Security systems, Home automation, Industry and anywhere if personal verification is needed. BioSwitch is adaptable for implementing within the systems for Home Automation, Alarm or Access controllers. By simple finger swipe you can send command to the devices attached to controller's outputs.
Biometrics are a more secure form of authentication than using cards or typing passwords; however, some forms have relatively high failure rates. Biometric authentication is often a secondary mechanism in two-factor authentication.

26. What is Ultrasonic sensor, and why we need it?

---Ultrasonic sensor is an advanced Presence Sensor that is needed in Stagnant Occupancy situations like:

1- Bedroom while Sleeping

2- Toilet while setting for long time on seat

3- Living Room while relaxing and Watching Movie for Long Time

In Those areas all, the person do not move for long time, and we need a system that can detect his presence without the need for his movement.. Unlike PIR motion sensors (they usually power Off systems assuming no one in room because PIR did not detect Motion for long Time)

Top

27. Why We need Gas Shut off valve?

---For Health and Safety and confort

1- During bed Time, vacation, Away Mode.. the Gas System will be shut off securely

2- In case of Fire alarm, Gas Shut off will close gas Supply and decrese the posibility of extra disasters

3- If Food Left for long time on Stove, and need to shut it off remotely (like Boiling Bones slowly)

Top

28. Why We have to have the Power mounted Supply Separetly while Other Manufacturers have it always inside the system?

---We have our Power Supply Separately located outside our Modules for Many reasons:

1- Our System Is fully designed to be Green, and Not Consume Power unless operational

2- If Operational, we Have designed the system to use minimal power consumption of 24mA only, accordingly having a power supply inside every module would waste lots of power uselessly. Today one power supply can operate 10-30 devices on the BUS Network easily.

3- In Case of any Power supply problem, it will be very easy to replace it immediately without disturbing operation or disconnecting electrical wiring of circuits, and it will not make any warrantee violation due to opening of modules for repair of power supply (We save time and Money).

4- Our Heat-Sink size and Brass Qty Used is Bigger that other manufacturers, for Higher efficiency and Quality
